How these quantities are calculated
Each bid item's quantity comes from TxDOT's bid data on the Texas Open Data Portal. For a project that has already let, the quantities are the low bid. For an upcoming project, they are the advertised quantities.
Each bid item is converted to material using its width, thickness and type, and the default rates of Bickley Consulting Services, LLC below. Quantities are in-place material. No waste allowance is added.
Rumble bars, raised pavement markers, preformed markings and pavement sealer are counted as bid, by the each or by the linear foot. Centerline and edgeline rumble bars are 1-foot bars, so each foot bid is one bar. Removal and surface preparation are listed but not counted. Items that have not been classified yet are listed as held out and are never estimated. Work zone markings (Item 662) are shown on their own, because the bid does not say which material will be used.
